1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
-Got MARRIED
-graduated college
-worked three jobs over the course of the year
-had to really, truly, fend for myself (ourselves, but it still counts)
-lived in a state other than Oklahoma
-drove a U-Haul (here's a tip for you. Never drive a U-Haul.)
-moved to a place where I knew absolutely no one.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
No, I really didn't. I gained about ten pounds this year.
-EXERCISE. This is my resolution for the third year running. The first year, I lost 50 pounds. The second year, I gained ten of those back.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My cousin's wife
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Nope.
5. What countries did you visit?
Texas.
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
-A stable job. None of this only keeping a job for three months crap.
7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
June 21st. That's when I got married. ^^ Yes, this is a theme for 2008 for me.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Starting a life with my wife in a new location, with new jobs. We're just now really starting to get caught up...here's hoping it lasts!
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not finding a job in the engineering field and having to settle for retail service work.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
not that I can remember
11. What was the best thing you bought?
umm......I really don't know. I'd have to say the futon we got in our living room. Seriously. Way the hell cheaper than a couch, and REALLY comfortable if you have pillows over the armrests.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My and Theresa's dads. Seriously. I don't know how they put up with our mothers through the wedding preparations.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My and Theresa's mothers. Seriously. I lost so much respect for them because of how they acted this year. I'm just now really getting over it, but it's happening.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Moving and relocation shit. rent. Paying off credit cards. And theresa's student loans. ...Actually, that's where ALL my money went, right there.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
finally graduating college. But now, I'm excited to be going back for my Master's next year. Go figure.
16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
Uh, pretty much the entire 'Best of Journey' album, because this guy in our lab in college ALWAYS played it.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
Happier, I would say. Less stressed, about some things, more stressed about others, but..happier.
ii. thinner or fatter?
Ten pounds fatter.
iii. richer or poorer?
Richer, amazingly, because theresa and i both have jobs. Mine might not be stable, but hers is. We can pay rent and bills, and buy food. That's more than I've ever been able to do on my own before. And I've experienced more life since I got out of college than I did for the whole time I was in it.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Work. Like, real engineering work. The kind that I went to school for.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Umm.........I don't....really know. I generally don't have regrets.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
I woke up, went over to theresa's parents house, we spent the day opening presents and eating, and I read a lot of Dresden Files
22. Did you fall in love in 2008?
I got married. I was already in love, but it felt like falling in love all over again after it was over.
23. How many one-night stands?
Uh. See above.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
I'm gonna go right ahead and say House.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Um, not really. My hates are pretty constant, and they're more...ideas and types of people than they are actual people.
26. What was the best book you read this year?
The Dresden Files. All of them.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
The Protomen!!! Rock opera based on the old-school Megaman games.
28. What did you want and get?
Stable enough income to be able to pay rent and get food.
29. What did you want and not get?
A stable enough job to not have to worry about things for a couple years at least.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I'm gonna have to say The Dark Knight.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I...think I pretty much just played Warcraft the whole day.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
if I would have been able to get the job I was going for at the beginning. (Told you there was a theme to my year.)
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Same as it always is. T-shirt and jeans. And for work, polo shirt and khakis. That's all I ever wear.
34. What kept you sane?
My sister,
rei_jin . Seriously, i could not have ever done it without her. And by 'it' I mean everything. School, the wedding, life itself.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Vienna Teng. Seriously, she's my 'famous person crush', even though she's not exceptionally famous. Her and Summer Glau.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The war. Seriously, that's been my rant for so long now.
37. Who did you miss?
avery18 . I miss hanging out with you so much sometimes. But we have WoW, and that really does make it better. (Yeah, I know, I resisted getting all sentimental when I saw you over christmas, and I think I did a good job there.)
